1. About these terms
These terms apply when you enquire about, book, purchase, receive, or rely on a RoofVision roof inspection report service. These terms are for RoofVision public roof report services only. They do not replace the separate terms that apply to the RoofVision software application or contractor app.
By booking or using a RoofVision report service, you agree to these terms. If you are booking on behalf of another person, company, insurer, property owner, buyer, or landlord, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
2. Report options
RoofVision currently offers Basic Roof Inspection Reports and Comprehensive Roof Inspection Reports. The report type selected at booking determines the inspection scope, level of detail, and amount of photo evidence included.
Basic Report
A Basic Report is an external visual roof condition assessment. It is intended to document visible conditions, general maintenance concerns, and selected photo evidence from accessible roof areas. It does not include lifting, removing, dismantling, or disturbing roofing materials, flashings, cappings, fixings, insulation, linings, or other building elements.
Comprehensive Report
A Comprehensive Report provides a more detailed roof condition assessment where safe and reasonably accessible. It may include careful, limited checking of accessible roofing components such as serviceable cappings, laps, flashings, penetrations, fixings, gutters, ridges, hips, valleys, and roof edges, provided this can be done safely and without damage.
3. Inspection limitations
Roof inspection findings are based on conditions visible and accessible at the time of inspection. RoofVision does not carry out destructive testing, structural engineering assessment, plumbing or electrical assessment, building code compliance certification, weather-tightness certification, or concealed cavity investigation as part of standard report services.
Some defects, leaks, installation issues, concealed deterioration, internal moisture paths, or future performance risks may not be visible during the inspection. Weather, roof pitch, height, access, surface condition, roof fragility, safety risks, vegetation, neighbouring structures, and sealed or fixed components may limit what can be inspected.
If an area is unsafe, fragile, inaccessible, sealed, fixed, concealed, weather-affected, or cannot reasonably be checked without risk of damage, it may be excluded from inspection and noted where relevant.
4. No guarantee of future roof performance
A RoofVision report records observations and professional opinion based on available visible evidence at the time of inspection. It is not a guarantee, warranty, insurance policy, or certification that the roof will not leak, fail, deteriorate, or require repair in the future.
5. Photos and report evidence
Reports may include selected photographs, captions, findings, risk notes, and repair priority guidance. Photos are selected to support the report and may not show every part of the roof or every observation made during inspection.
RoofVision may obscure, crop, compress, or otherwise prepare photos for report presentation, privacy, file size, or clarity.
6. Pricing, GST, travel, and additional scope
Prices shown on the RoofVision website are in New Zealand dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise. Standard pricing is based on ordinary local roof inspection conditions. Travel, urgent turnaround, complex access requirements, unsafe roof conditions, unusually large properties, specialist equipment, repeat visits, or additional scope may require a separate quote or confirmation before work proceeds.
7. Access, safety, and site conditions
You are responsible for ensuring there is lawful and safe access to the property and that RoofVision is informed of any known site hazards, access restrictions, animals, locked gates, fragile surfaces, asbestos concerns, electrical hazards, or other risks.
RoofVision may decline, postpone, limit, or stop an inspection if the site, roof, access, or weather conditions are unsafe or unsuitable. Safety decisions are at RoofVision’s discretion.
8. Booking changes and cancellations
If you need to change or cancel a booking, please contact RoofVision as soon as possible. RoofVision may reschedule an inspection because of weather, access, safety, availability, or other operational reasons.
Where work has already started, including travel, site attendance, photo review, report preparation, administration, or other reasonable work, RoofVision may charge for the work completed and any reasonable costs incurred.
9. Use of reports
Reports are prepared for the person or organisation who ordered the report and for the purpose described at the time of booking. You may share the report with relevant parties such as property owners, buyers, insurers, landlords, tenants, contractors, or advisers where this is reasonably connected to the report purpose.
Reports should not be altered, copied into a misleading context, represented as a structural engineering report, or used as a guarantee of future roof performance.
10. Liability and consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded under New Zealand law, including any rights that may apply under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RoofVision is not liable for loss caused by inaccessible or concealed conditions, later deterioration, weather events, unauthorised reliance, changes made after inspection, or matters outside the agreed report scope.
